Finding Joy In Your  Singleness

There are many Christian Singles who feel guilt in desiring to be married, there is nothing wrong with desiring to have a godly spouse, matter of fact, the bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9 that “Two are better than one”. Usually those whom God have called to serve Him in their singleness do not have the desire to be married.

This is the phase in your life where you must take advantage of the opportunity to get to know Christ in a very intimate way. The married phase is very different from this one and has it’s own purposes.

Many have found comfort in the word of God in Psalm 37:4-7, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”
If we look closely at the above scripture, the key point is not that God will give you everything you want but that you must delight in Him. Waiting on God for a spouse shouldn’t be depressing, even though you may feel lonely at times, the joy of the Lord must still be in your heart.  You must be so in love with Christ, that being in a close relationship with Him brings you joy, in turn that joy brings hope. Though some may criticize the fact that you are single and celibate, in other words that you are different, the scripture says in Psalm 37: 6 that “He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” Dear friend it is ok to be different, be assured that when Christ blesses you and honors your sacrifice, you will also be different, you will have a marriage that is rare in today’s world, a peaceful marriage.

Remember to trust God with all your heart and to REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS.
